Day 01: Mandalay - Monywa – Phowin Cave & Shwe Ba Cave - Monywa
Day 02: Monywa - Alaungdaw Kathapa National Park
Day 03: Alaungdaw Kathapa National Park - Monywa – Mandalay
This ASEAN heritage site is 616.84 sq mile in size with a well forested mountainous area and well known for its wealth of biological diversity. Also an ideal place for bird watchers and nature lovers!
Day 01: Mandalay - Monywa – Phowin Hill Cave & Shwe Ba Hill Cave
Early morning approx. 7 a.m, pick-up from hotel and drive to Monywa (approx. 3 hrs drve). Arrival and proceed to visit a sandstone cave system of Po Win Hill - full of Buddhist statues wood carvings and murals dating to the 17th centuries. A covered stairway climbs a hill to the main cave shrine, but there are dozens of large and small caves in the area filled with old Buddha images. Then visit Shwe Ba Hill - features unique pavilions cut from the surrounding sandstone and filled with plain Buddha images. Evening back to Monywa and overnight at hotel.
Day 02: Monywa - Alaungdaw Kathapa National Park
Early breakfast at hotel. Approx. 7 a.m, drive to Alaungdaw Kathapa. The journey involves approx. 17 miles of off-road plus elephant ride. Trekking in natural forests and visiting the historical famous Alaungdaw Kathapa Shrine. Overnight at Guest house.
Day 03: Alaungdaw Kathapa National Park - Monywa – Mandalay
Simple breakfast at guest house. Birding & wild expedation in the forest. In the afternoon, back to Monywa and proceed drive to Mandalay. Arrive back to hotel.
